Below are the points on which you need to evaluate your profile before considering immigration to Canada through the express entry.
- Age: You will get maximum points if you fall in the bracket of 20-29 years of age. After that, you will lose 5 points for each year.
- Education: Maximum points are for a Ph.D. holder. Having a masters degree also get you some extra points. One important thing for earning education points are that you need to get your education credentials evaluated by one of the designated organization. More details here ECA process.
- Language Ability(English/French): You need to get your language abilities evaluated by some language test (IELTS etc). You need to score high in this to get some good points. You can match your score to CLB scale on this link (CLB Chart).
- Work Experience: If you have Canadian work experience, you can get some extra points (80 in case of 5 years).
So first step will be evaluating your profile with this calculator of CRS. Click here to begin.
If your score is good (compare it with the current cutoff here. ), go ahead with language ability test and education credentials evaluation. Once done with those, create the express entry profile and you will be in the pool for next draw (which generally happens once every two weeks on Wednesday.)
If the score is low, still you can immigrate with various other provinces specific program. For example, In 2017, Ontario invited candidates with CRS score as low as 350 while express entry cutoff was near 430 at that time.
